To the Hon[oura]ble the Governor & the rest of the Hon[oura]ble Comittee of Parli[a]m[en]t now resident att Nott[ingham].

The humble petition of Widdow Robinson late wiffe of Ensigne Robinson of Nottingham deceased.

Humbly sheweth:

That whereas yo[u]r petition[ne]rs late Husband hath beene imployed (as a Soldier) in the publique service, ever since the beginninge of these distracted tymes, dureinge which service hee did receaue very small pay, & now lately hath lost his life in the said service, & hath left yo[u]r petition[ne]r in a very poore Condic[i]on, not onely in a great deale of debt, but nothinge to subsist withall, & soe by this means yo[u]r petition[ne]r is not onely deprived of her Husband (but without yo[u]r assistance) of all worldly Comforts.

These pr[e]mises considered yo[u]r petition[ne]r humbly desires yo[u]r Hono[u]rs to take it into yo[u]r serious Considerac[i]ons & allow vnto yo[u]r petition[ne]r the Areres of her late Husbands pay, or take some other course for her maintenance & for which shee shall ever bee bound to pray.

The Com[mit]tee having (with much tendernes) considered of this Petic[i]on are desirous to satisfy the Pet[itione]rs request for her p[ro]vison, and therefore have moved Mr Mayor, Major Widmerpole, Cap[tai]n White, Ald[e]rman James and Mr Salusbury (as they be Com[m]it[t]ees of the towne of Nott[ingham]) that she may enioy her house rent free, to wh[i]ch they p[ro]mise [several illegible words] to the vtmost of their power, and for the other p[ar]te of her debts the Com[mit]tee will take care to give her satisfac[i]on herein w[i]th all possible speed.
