The petition of Margaret Moseley of Morton, Derbyshire, 3 April 1647

To ye hon[oura]ble Comittee of Parliam[en]t for ye County of Nott[ingham]
The humble petic[ion] of Widdow Mosley of Morton in the county of Derb{y}
<Sheweth>
Whereas yo[u]r petic[ioners] oldest sonn Thomas Mosley Came to this guarrison of Nottingham and were A listed Souldier vnder the Comand of Leuieten[en]t Colonell George Hutchinson, and afterwards were A Troop[er] vnder the same Comand vntil the bridges was taken by the Kings p[ar]ttie and hee was there slaine, And souldiers then being verie badly accommodated that there was A great deale of money due to yo[u]r petic[ioners] sonn for his faithfull service there and as by ye p[ar]ticulers hereto annexed doth appeare
May it therefore please yo[u]r hon[ou]rs, to Comiserate yo[u]r petic[ioners] poore & distressed estate, by reason of the losse of her sonn who was the onely stay and sucker of yo[u]r petic[ioner] in this her age, and to Allow her what was form[e]rly due to her sonn for his faithfull service, towards the releife and maintaineance of yo[u]r poore petic[ioner] in this her age & necessitie, and shee shall ever pray for yo[u]r much encrease of hon[ou]r &c:
3d April 1647
Mr Hough Pay forty shillings to Widdowe Moseley the pet[itione]r in p[ar]te of her late sonnes pay and this shall be yo[u]r war[ran]t it being attest{ed} by the Certificate hereto annexed that forty pounds three shillings {&} foure pence is due to him for pay. Given und[e]r o[u]r hands the da{y} and yeare afores[ai]d.
