The petition of Margaret Harries of Hereford, Herefordshire, 1674
To the Right Worshippfull Thomas Symonds Esq[ui]r[e] Maior and the Rest of the Justices.
The humble petion of Margarett Harries of this sayd Citty widow.
Humbly sheweth that yo[u]r petioner was borne in this Citty wherin she liued honestly takeinge paynes for a poore livelyhood to Maintaine her and her family not beinge Chargable to any whilst her husband liued, her husband haueing bine formerly a souldier for his Late Ma[jes]tie vnder the Comande of S[i]r Henry Lingen and Nowe since deceased, and yo[u]r poore petioner is reduced to want not beinge able to worke as formerly haueinge two Children one her hands and Noethinge to reliure them saueinge some smale pittance from the parrish weekely for which yo[u]r petioner is euer bound to pray for it.
Now May it please yo[u]r worshipps to grant three pounds of Mr Harpers Mony for ye placeinge of my son Richard Harries an Aprentice beinge the Age of 12 years and vpwards And yo[u]r petioner shall be euer bound to pray for yo[u]r worshipps.
