The petition of Lieutenant Grenvile Wyke, royalist officer, September 1644

To the Kings most Excellent Ma[jes]tie
The humble peticion of Grenvile Wyke.
sheweth that having byn Captayne Lieutenant to the Marques of Hertford at sherborne, he passed with him into Wales, where he was Maior to the Regiment of Colonell Donell in which Service he continued during the warrs there, in which tyme he had the com[m]and of Swansey, and Since y[ou]r Ma[jes]ties com[m]ing into theis parts he came over and continued at beere when the quarters were there, and was a lieutenant in this summers Campaine wherein he hath continued throughout, and beinge now in great extremity through want of all necessaryes
He humbly beseecheth y[ou]r Ma[jes]ties grace and favour in releeving his distressed condition and he shall ever pray for y[ou]r Ma[jes]ty.
