The petition of Lewis Warden, Northamptonshire, Epiphany 1678

To the hono[ura]ble his Ma[jes]ties Justices of peace in Sessions assembled
The humble petic[i]on of Lewis Warden A Soldier in the Service of the late King Charles Sheweth That at Mich[aelm]as Sessions 1664 The petic[i]on[e]r had A penc[i]on graunted him of Foure pounds p[er] Annu[m] & by Order of Epiphany Sessions in the Three & Twentyeth yeare of his now Ma[jes]ties Raigne the said penc[i]on was reduced to Forty shillings yearely And that yo[u]r petic[i]oner is now very Aged & Infirme & by reason of his wounds received in his late Ma[jes]ties service is altogeather vnable to get any thing towards his livelyhood.
He humbly prayes that the pr[e]sent penc[i]on of Forty shillings A yeare may be Augmented & made Foure pounds A yeare as formerly the same was And yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r shall Ever pray &c
Ordered That the Peticon[e]rs penc[i]on bee augmented 20 s. p[er] ann[um] the first paym[en]t to begin the next quarter.
