To the wor[shipfu]ll John Beare Esq[ui]re & to the rest of the wor[shipfu]ll Justices of the Peace for the County afores[ai]d

The humble Petic[i]on of Laurence Elliott of Lustleigh in the County afores[ai]d

<Humbly Sheweth>

That whereas yo[u]r poore Petic[i]oner beinge an old Souldier in the late Kings Ma[jes]ties seruice Kinge Charles the First of blessed memory vnder the Com[m]aund of Bartholomew Gidley Esq[ui]re Capt[ain] of the Tinners and continued in the s[ai]d seruice from the beginninge to the end of the s[ai]d warr, And beinge hurted and wounded in the s[ai]d seruice att Stampford worke ag[ains]t Plimmouth: And beinge now old and Decreped and not able to worke beinge releiued by the p[ar]ish Yo[u]r poore Petic[i]oner desires That yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps would add some maintenance out of the County Stocke towards his better releife And yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner shall euer pray &c
