The petition of Julian Moore of Devizes, Wiltshire, 4 July 1648

To the Right Wor[shipfu]ll his Ma[jes]ties Justics of Peace for ye Countie of Wiltes[hire], assembled for the Sessions holden at Warmester July 4th 1648.
The Humble petic[i]on of Julian Moore of the Devizes widowe.
Humbly sheweth; That whereas yo[u]r petition[e]rs sonne Thomas Moore having been allwaies a souldier in ye Parliam[en]t Armey from the begining of the warres, was shott in his back in the Parliam[en]t service vnder ye Com[m]aund of S[i]r William Waller lying in Siege against ye Devizes; And being soe maymed & sick he was Relieved by yo[u]r peti[ti]on[e]r three quarters of a yeare, to her great charge & ympoverishm[en]t, she being a poore woman & not able to mayntaine her selfe: Neither is her said sonne as yet able to performe his Worke as in tyme past he hath done.
Yo[u]r poore Petition[e]r humbly prayeth yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps to be pleased to vse some meanes for her, that she may be satisfyed for her said charge, By such waies or meanes a yo[u]r wisdomes shall finde meete; And yo[u]r Petition[e]r shall ever pray for yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps health & happynesse.
