The petition of Joyce Barroll of Hereford, Herefordshire, 1662 to 1663
To the Right Wor[shi]ppfull Thomas Hollmes Esq[ui]r[e] Maior of the Citty of Hereff[or]d & others the wor[shi]ppfull Magistrates, & Com[m]on Councell of the said Citty.
The humble petic[i]on of Grace Joyce Barroll of this Citty spinster one of the daughters of Maior James Barroll late of the said Citty Allderman, dec[eased];
Humbly Craueing; in relac[i]on had to your petic[ione]rs three Quarters of a yeares sicknes being taken with a grievous infirmity of lamenes in her Limbes not able to vndergoe any worke or labour to raise succour for a Liuelihood; but alltogeather impotent & healples: lefte destitute & Comfortles fatherles & motherles (yo[u]r petic[ione]rs father haueing bin a greate sufferer & Looser in the late warrs for his Ma[jes]t[y]s most Royall father of blessed memory dec[eased]; That yo[u]r wor[shi]pps wil bee pleased to graunte yo[u]r petic[ione]r an order for prouison of relieffe with some harbour within this Citty to put her head in (being a poore orphan here borne & bredd or otherwise to prouide for yo[u]r petic[ione]r according to the Statute: &c
And yo[u]r petic[ione]r shall daily pray for yo[u]r wor[shi]pps &c
Ordered that the Petic[i]oner be allowed i s. weekely out of Mr Woods money
