The second petition of Jone Whytakers, Hertfordshire, 1649

To the wor[shi]p[fu]ll Justices of the Peace for the County of Hertf[ord]s[hire]

The humble Petition of Jone Whytakers widow

Sheweth.

That Richard Whytakers the Petitioners Husband was slayne at Edge Hill fight in the Parliam[en]ts Service

That at the tyme of her Husbands death she had three small children w[hi]ch for many yeres with her care & laboure did provide for & keepe them as longe as she was able.

That two of her Children have ben lately putt out Apprentices by the parish wherein she lyves.

That she hath one Child w[hi]ch still remaynes with her w[hi]ch in these hard tymes she beinge verie poore is not able to maynteyne.

That as the Petitioner is informed, there is some Allowance & Exhibic[i]on given & allowed unto such widowes & orphans whose fathers did loose their lyves in the Parlyam[en]t Service by the Parl[i]amentes ordynance.

Humbly praieth yt your wor[shi]ppes will be pleased to take such order for the Petition[er]s relief herein as you in your wisdome shall thinke fitt. And the Petitioner shall dayly pray &c.
