The petition of Jone Neaves, Kent, 1658

To the Right Worshipfull the Justices of the Peace now Assembled in Canterbury
The Humble Petition of Jone Neaues of the said Citie Widdow
Sheweth
That yo[u]r poor petitioners husband was a soldier in ye Parliaments seruice and as shee conceiueth died in ye same in Ireland shee not not haueing heard from him in many years nor Receeiued any Maintenance from him by Reason of w[hi]ch shee and her familey (haueing alsoe lately been all sick) are reduced to a most sad Condic[i]on and w[i]thout some Releefe likely to p[er]ish
May it therefore please yo[u]r Worships the Premises Considered to bestow vppon her what in yo[u]r wisdoms shall seeme Conuenient to pr[e]uent ye vtter ruine of her selfe and Family
For w[hi]ch she as in duty bound shall euer pray &c
