The petition of John Wylde of Disley-Stanley, Cheshire, Epiphany 1652

To the Ho[noura]ble the Justices of the Peace and Quo[rum] for the said County

The humble Petic[i]on of John Hadfield Wylde a Maymed Souldi[e]r

Humbly Sheweth

That yo[u]r petic[i]o[ne]r was a sould[ie]r for the Com[m]on Wealth for the Townes[hi]p of Disley Stanley in the said County in the Regim[en]t of Col[onel] Henry Bradshawe & of the said Col[onel’]s owne Company

That yo[u]r petic[i]o[ne]r in the said Service att the late Battle of the Citty [of] Worcester was dangerously Shott into the left Should[e]r (p[ar]te of the Bullett still remayneinge w[i]th in his Body & the wound vncured) whereby hee is maymed & vtterly made destitute & vnable to helpe himselfe in workinge for his Liueinge as formerly hee hath done; And hath noe other way of Subsistance but such allowance as the Ho[noura]ble Parliam[en]t is pleased to Allowe vnto such poore Maymed & wounded Souldi[e]rs

The premisses Tend[e]rly considered yo[u]r petic[i]o[ne]r humbly prayes yo[u]r Hono[u]rs to take the same into considerac[i]on & to admitt him a Pentio[ne]r & to allowe vnto him yo[u]r Ord[e]r not only for such yearely Penc[i]on as yow in yo[u]r Wisdomes shall thinke meete & convenient for his Future Menteynance & liuelyhood, his poore Estate & condicion considered But alsoe to giue vnto him such Charges as hee yo[u]r Peit[i]o[ne]r was att in the Cure of his said wounds The Chirurgion esteeming the Cure thereof to bee well deserueing 10 li. w[hi]ch if not allowed vnto him will Tend vnto his vtter vndoeinge
