The petition of John Wright, William Holt, and Thomas Orange, all of Aston, Cheshire, Epiphany 1663

To the Right Wo[rshipfu]ll his Maiesties Justices off the Peace For this Countie
The humble Petetion of John Wright William Holt and Thomas Orange
Sheweth
that your Petecioners serued his Late Maiestie of England in those inhuman warrs against him, As Corporall of horse vnder Captain Fleminge in Sir Thomas Aston owne Regiment for the space of foure yeares and a halfe, and receiued little or no Pay, but Contracted vnto him selfe greate debts to Mainetaine himselfe in the service, Besides hee receiued a great shot in his Arme, and seuerall cuts and wounds in his head att Edge Hill and hath the bullet in his Arme to this day, which doth much trouble him att severall times, soe that your Petecion[e]r John Wright is and hath bin sore troubled to Follow his Labor and imployment of husbandry, to maintaine his wife and three Childeren hee hauing nothing to subsist vppon but what hee houldeth of the Right worshipfull Wiloughby Aston Barronett vpon the Racke, and did never dissert his Ma[jes]t[y’]s seruice but hath euer bin true and faithfull from the beginning and are Peeple ready to serue his Ma[jes]t[y] still and to hazard there liues for him John Wright beinge att this tyme A souldier in the Freehold Band
May itt therefore Please your worshipps to take the Premisis into your Grafe and wisse Considerac[i]ons of some way of meanes that may bee aydinge and Assisting for the releife and Comford of your Poore Petecioners wifes and Childeren
