The petition of John Wright of Aston, Cheshire, Michaelmas 1662

To the Right Honno[u]rable his Maiesties Justice of the peace for this County
The humble petecion of John Wright
Sheweth
That your petecioner serued his Late Maiestie of England, in those inhumaine warrs against him, As Corporall of horse in S[i]r Thomas Aston Regime[n]t vnder the Com[m]and of Captaine Flemming for the space of foure yeares and a halfe, and receiued Little or noe pay but Contracted vnto himselfe great debts to maintaine himselfe in the service Bysides hee receiued a great shot in his Arme at Edge Hill And hath the Bullet in his Arme to this day and seaverall other wounds hee receiued at the same time in his head and likewayes in his bodie, which doth very much trouble him at Change and full And Like ways at Change of weather so that your petecioner is and hath bin sore troubled to follow his Labor and imployment of husbandry to maintaine his wife and three child even, hee haueing nothing to maintaine him selfe or to subsist vpon but what hee houldeth of the Right Worshipfull Wiloughly [sic.] Aston Barronet vppon the Racke who is verrie respectiue vnto him by reason of his fidelity and true Loyelty, vnto his Late Maiestie and Likewayes to his Maiestie that now is, And did never disert theire service, but hath ever bin true and faithfull from the begining to this present And is one at this present in his Maiesties free hould band a souldier Wee whoes names are vndersubscribed doe Certifie your Honnors and doe beleeue the premises hereof to bee true
May it therefore please your Honno[u]rs to take they [sic.] premises hereof into your wise Judicious Considerac[i]on and assisting for they releife and Comfort of your poore petecioner his wife and childeren here in
And your petecioner will ever pray &c
