The petition of John Woodworth of Salford, Lancashire, Easter 1662

To the Right Worshipfull his Maiesties Justices of the peace and Quorum for the Countey Palatine of Lancaster

The humble petition of John Woodworth of Salford and Mary his wife humbly sheweth that youre petitionor is aged seuenty seauen yeares and hath beene shott in seuerall places soe in the seruice both of the late king and allso in his maiestis seruice that now is and as is wel knowne vnto all the neightborhood [sic.] hath painefully followed his vocation and Callinge of a shoon maker but now soe it is with youer petitionor that hee is vtterly vnable to follow his Callinge soe as by any honest In dustery hee can menteyne himselfe his wife and Children

May it therefore pleas y[ou]r worships to take your poore petitionor Condition vnt into your serious Consideration and graunt youer worships order that youer poore petitionors may haue sume weekly alowance soe that the[y] may not vtterly be starued which vnlesse youer worships yeild them Releefe beinge that there Cottage in which the[y] did inhabit is fallen downe for want of Repaire and youer petitionor is forced to lye without and if pleas god to put into youre worships harts to graunte {yo}ur petionor sume Releef your healths and happinesses {he w}ill continually pray for
