To the Right worshipfull S[i]r Thomas Carew & the worshipfull Justices of the peace of the county of devon.

The Humble petition of John White carpenter of the parrish of Alphinton craveing yo[u]r worships to commiserate his mean & weake condition, by reason of severall wounds received, in o[u]r gracious King Charles the first his service, being in many fights & shall be made Apear unto yo[u]r worships if p[e]rmitted, yo[u]r pore petion[e]r never craved any reliefe before now, hopeing yo[u]r worships will take itt into consideration, & Alow somewhat towards A maintainance for yo[u]r pore petition[e]r who will in all duty be bound to pray for yo[u]r worships prosperitie here & hereafter.
