To ye R[ight] Wor[shipfu]ll S[i]r Thomas Carew Knight Judge of ye Sheshion and to ye Wor[shipfu]ll the Justices

The Humble Petition of John West of ye p[ar]ish of St Sidwells

Sheweth

That yo[u]r petitioner hath ever been A faithfull subject for his Ma[jes]ty and hath served King Charles ye 1st of blessed memory and hath been vnder Command as a faithfull souldier in the Citadell of plymouth for near twenty years haveing been wonded in his Ma[jes]tys service and also hath been Trew to his his [sic.] ma[jes]tys secret Trust and yo[u]r petitioner is now Growne to ye age of fouwer score and his wife near ye same age both there labors being done and yo[u]r petitioner being vnfit to serve as a souldier any Longer and being willing to end ye rest of his days with his wife & they being in great nesecity Humbly besheecheth yo[u]r worships yt he may be admitted to receave some mark of favor according to his Ma[jes]tys act to help him in his old age

and as in duty he shall ever pray for yo[u]r Lasting health, and Happyness
