The petition of John Warburton of Shocklach Green, Cheshire, Michaelmas 1660

To the hon[oura]ble Bench att this instant Quar[te]r Sessions for the Peace houlden att Knottesford within ye County of Chester
The humiliate petic[i]on of John Warburton of Shocklach Ouiat within the County aforesaid Laborer
In most humble mann[e]r sheweth vnto thes said Ho[noura]ble Bench That yo[u]r petic[i]on[er] (being form[e]rly of abilitie as well in body as Estate) is now of late fallen lame & decrepett, and peculiarly in regard that yo[u]r Pet[itione]r being a souldier vnder the Command of the Lo[rd] Willoughby att Newberry fight, and there being shott yo[u]r pet[itio]n[er] was & is thereby mayheymed, soe that yo[u]r petic[i]o[ne]r cannot worke nor follow his occasions as formerly to maintaine himselfe and his family (as wee whose names are hereto subscribed know of our knowledges to bee soe. Will itt therefore Please this hon[oura]ble Bench to admitt yo[u]r petic[i]on[er] to receive a quarterly pension out of the moneys for prison[e]rs maymed souldiers, and to cause the Cleark of the peace to enroll his name in the County booke There being non neare the said towne Except one Ince of Farnedon That is a pension[e]r
In doeing of w[hi]ch pious act towardes a fidelious soldier & serv[a]nte and subiect of his ma[jes]t[y] yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r will pray That the lord may remunerate yow here & Ellswhere
