To his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace within the County of Devon.

The humble Petition of John Tuckett of ye parish of Broadclist in the County aforesaid.

<Humbly Sheweth>

That poore Petic[i]oner hath been a souldier & subject unto his late Ma[jes]tie King Charles the first, being under the Com[m]and of Collonell Acland, and hath ben in many fights, wherein he hath Received sev[er]all hurts: And also was in Pendinnis Castle when it was besiegd where he suffered great extreamity and did eat horse flesh for many dayes: Yo[u]r poore Petic[i]oner doth most humbly beseech you his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace to take it into yo[u]r Considerac[i]on and to grant yo[u]r poore Petic[i]oner som[m]e of ye pay allowed for Maymed Souldjers yo[u]r poore Petic[i]oner being very Ancient and hath sev[er]all hurts about him, doth most humbly desire something towards his Maintainance which if yo[u]r Hon[ou]rs please to grant him, y[ou]r poore Petic[i]oner, as in duty bound, shall ever pray &c
