The petition of John Tompson of Skipton, West Riding of Yorkshire, July 1671

To the right Worship[fu]ll his Maiesties Justices of the peace for the West Rid[ing] of the County of Yorke.
The humble petic[i]on of John Tompson of Skipton
Sheweth:
That he is aged Fowrescore yeares and vpwards, and very infirme in bodye besides his Lamenes which he sustayned in his Ma[jes]ties service att Skipton, he beinge seriant to Maior Hughes, and in the said service continued from the beginninge of the Warrs, vnto the end, and well knowna faithfull and servisable. And that he formerly presented a petic[i]on to this worship[fu]ll Bench, to the same effect hereof, the verity of which was subscribed by severall good p[er]sons which petition remaines still vpon the Fyle (for any thinge he knows otherwise) So this his faithfull service, his inabilitye by lamenes had in service, his great Age considered.
Humbly prays such yo[u]r yearely pention as to his present condition, (the pr[e]misses considered) may be fownd meete
and he shall dayly pray &c.
