The petition of John Stenson, Derbyshire, 28 May 1647
To the hono[ura]ble Com[m]ittee for the County of Derby
The humble Petic[i]on of John Stenson late an sould[ie]r in Capt[ain] Robert Mellors Foote Company
<Sheweth> That yo[u]r petic[i]oner was sore wounded at the takeinge of Belvoir stables and lay vnder the Chirurgians hands Eleaven weekes dureinge which space yo[u]r petic[ione]r received but One fortnights pay soe there is due to yo[u]r petic[ione]r the Som[m]e of Two pounds & Two shillings for want whereof yo[u]r petic[ione]r is much impouerished by reason he spent the greatest p[ar]te of his Estate dureing the tyme yo[u]r petic[ione]r lay vnder the Surgions hand as afforesaid.
Yo[u]r petic[ione]r prays that this hono[ura]ble Com[m]ittee would be pleased to grant to yo[u]r petic[ione]r paym[en]t of the said Sum[m]e of Two pounds & Two shillings.
And yo[u]r petic[ione]r shall pray &c.
Derby May 28th 1647
It is Ordered by the Com[m]ittee at Derby that Mr Henry Buxton Treasurer pay to the petic[ione]r Forty shillings when money comes to his hands and wee power to dispose of it:
