The humble petic[i]on of John Simpkins of Warminster
Sheweth
That yo[u]r peticio[n]er is vtterly disabled in body & ruined in goods through imprisonm[en]t beateing & plundering by the merciles Cavaliers for yo[u]r peticio[n]ers actings for the good of the states souldiers in the time of the late warre: by reason whereof yo[u]r peticio[n]er & his family (being in distresse and for the reason aforesaid not able to gett his owne liueing much lesse vnable to gaine maintainance for his family houshold) are like to perish through want.
May it therefore please yo[u]r wor[shi]pps to comiserate his deplorable condic[i]on and to afford him some reliefe forth of the treasury for maimed souldiers as shall seeme meet in yo[u]r wor[shi]pps wisedomes And your peticio[n]er shall as in duty bound ever pray.
