The petition of John Rose of Bradninch, Devon, 1679

To the Right wor[shipfu]ll Sir Thomas Carew Knight and to others his ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace now assembled at the Castle of Exon at the generall sessions of the peace for the County of Devon.

The humble petition of John Rose of Bradninch in the County afforesaid.

Humbly sheweth that yo[u]r petitioner was in the service of his Late Ma[jes]tie Kinge Charles the first of Blessed Memory under the Command of Sir Henry Cary and in the said service received severall woundes as appears by the certificate an[n]exed of Capt[ain] Drake whereby hee is now disabled to gett his Livelyhood.

Wherefore he humbly prayes, the pr[e]misses Considered that you would be pleased to graunt him a pension as to others in Like Condition & your poor petitioner shal be ever Bound to pray for the good p[ro]sperity of yo[u]r Wo[rshi]pies.

Wee whose names are subscribed doe Believe that the Contents of the above written petition are true.
