The petition of John Pinnell of Brinkworth, Wiltshire, 7 October 1668

To the Right hon[ou]r[a]ble & right Wor[ship[fu]ll his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the Peace at the Generall Sessions holden at Marlebrough for the County of Wilts[hire]
The humble petic[i]on of John Pinnell of Brinkworth in the County aboues[ai]d
Sheweth
That yo[u]r pet[itione]r was vnder the Comaund of Edw[ard] Nott Esq[uire] in his Ma[jes]t[y’]s service in the Regiment of Col[one]l Thomas Howard for the space of three yeares during the tymes of vsurpac[i]on since yt yo[u]r pet[itione]r for his loyallty to his sacred Ma[jes]tie of Euer blessed memory haue ben much molested & dampnified as by the certificate here vnto Annexed appeareth yo[u]r pet[itione]r hath waited the fauorable pleasuer of this hon[ou]r[a]ble Bench this 5 yeares and vpward vpon promise that as soone as any of yo[u]r pet[itione]rs fellow souldiers should depart this life yo[u]r pet[itione]r should haue allowance for his sayd seruice done toward his subsistance w[i]thout wh[ich] yo[u]r pet[itione]r his wife and children wil be in peniury & want. Yo[u]r pet[itione]r[‘s] fellow souldiers [?orders] who are deceased yo[u]r pet[itione]r can p[ro]duce.
May it therefore please this hono[u]r[a]ble Bench to com[m]isserate the Indigent condic[i]on of yo[u]r distressed pet[itione]r And allow yo[u]r pet[itione]r such an Annuall Pencheon as in yo[u]r wisdomes shal be thought convenient for the support of yo[u]r pet[itione]r his wife & family.
And yo[u]r pet[itione]r shall euer be bound to pray &c
