The petition of John Pampion, Northamptonshire, Michaelmas 1678
To the right Worsh[i]full his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace of the & for the County of Northampton[shire] Most humbly
Sheweth
That yo[u]r peti[tione]r John Pampion and his wife hath bin with the right hono[u]r[a]ble ye Earle of Northampton at Ashby about Michallmas last & made his Casse knowne in this his poure condision & of his Loyallty to his Late Ma[jes]tie in [w]hose seruice vnder ye right Hono[u]r[a]ble ye Lord Compton deceased he was daingerouse wounded & lost ye vse of his right hand, with continuall weekenes and darkenes of sight & of agge 70 yeares & vpwards & not any wayes able to gett him a liuelyhodd for himsealfe & fameuly & ye right Hono[u]r[a]ble ye Earle of Northampton did command yo[u]r poure peti[tione]r to come to yo[u]r Worsh[i]ps and make his casse knowne to haue an yearely aloweance of pension toward his futer releefe in this his poure condision in his old agge saying it had bin fitt he had receaued it long before now
Now in regard your poure peti[tione]r hath put in many petissions many times to your worsh[i]pps in the like casse doth most humbly begg of yo[u]r worsh[i]pps to grant him an order to haue sum yearely pension for his futer releefe that he perrish not as in yo[u]r worsh[i]pphs wonted mersises & tender considerasion to others in the like casse as by a Certificatte anixsed heare vnto may further appeare soe shall yo[u]r poure peti[tione]r be vnto god as Ever bound to pray &c.
