The petition of John Ormerode, Lancashire, 15 July 1665

To the right wor[shi]p[fu]ll his Ma[jes]ties Justices of peace & quor[um] att Preston Sessions the 15th July 1665
The humble Petic[i]on of John Ormerode of [blank] a poore maimed soldier.
Humbly Sheweth
That whereas yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r hath faithfully served his Ma[jes]tie as a Troop[er] vnd[e]r the com[m]and & in the Troope of Collonell S[i]r John Cloberye kn[igh]t in his Ma[jes]ties Armye who was vnd[e]r the com[m]and of [illegible] the Lord Duke of Albermarle in Scotland and there received a wound in his Right Legge by reason whereof he is totally [illegible] maimed & it is become wholy vseles vnto him, soe that he is disinabled to worke whereby to releeve himselfe, And that he never deserted his said trust fidelitye & Loyalty but continued firme faithfull & [illegible] stedfast in that service vt vntill the tyme hee was disbanded as by the certificate herevnto anexed fully appeares
The pr[e]misses consid[e]red yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r humbly prayes yo[u]r wor[shi]ps ord[e]r that he may have that penc[i]on w[hi]ch was formerly given vnto Lawrence Holden of Accrington who is now deceased & yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r will ever pray &c.
