The petition of John Maddocks of Agden, Cheshire, Trinity 1670

To his Ma[jes]ties Justices of ye peace for this County

The humble petic[i]on of John maddocks of Agden

<Humbly Sheweth>

That yo[u]r Pet[it]ion[e]r hath in these late Rebellions and troublesome times of Warres beene a very greate sufferer for ye manifestac[i]on of his faithfullnesse loyallty & service to his late Ma[jes]tie of euer blessed memory & to his Ma[jes]tie yt now is whereby yo[u]r Pet[it]ion[e]r hath not onely suffer[e]d very much by the decay & impaire of his Estate but alsoe receiued seuerall greate & visbible wounds in ye Warrs beeing vnder ye Comand of S[i]r Thomas Aston w[hi]ch hath rendred him vncapable of following his Trade or any other labour to mantaine himselfe his wife & greate family.

Yo[u]r Pet[it]ion[e]r therefore humbly prayeth yt yo[u]r Wor[shi]ps would please to take his s[ai]d deplorable Condic[i]on into yo[u]r Charitable Considerac[i]ons & yt y[o]u would please to admitt and Order him to receiue a Pension in ye Hundred of Broxon towards his pr[e]sent Releife in the place & stead of Tho[mas] Yates or Thomas Powell who are supposed to bee dead & that hee may bee enter[e]d accordingly.
And yo[u]r Pet[it]ion[e]r shall euer pray &c
