The petition of John Lloyd of Denbigh, Denbighshire (1), 14 January 1652

To the Right Wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the P{eace of the} County of Denbigh.
The humble Petic[i]on of John Lloyd of Denb{igh}
Sheweth
That yo[u]r Petic[i]oner was in ye first warre a souldier vn{der the command} of Captaine Scudamore in ye Garrison of Glocester in the s{ervice of the} Parliam[en]t both before at and after the Siege there in wh[ic]h {illegible} one of his Eyes and received diverse wounds wh[ic]h have d{illegible} p[ro]secute that service w[i]th yt faithfullnes and forwardnes he wa{illegible} or in any other way to acquire a Competency or Subsistence for {himself as} formerly.
Notwithstandinge All w[hi]ch Infirmities to manifest his {illegible} willingnes to Promote ye Publicke service he ha{illegible} last past and out of his vtmost Abilities in ye Place {illegible} hath beene imployed in in these Countyes and the service {illegible} through the blessinge of God almost brought to a Period {illegible} most Partes of this nac[i]on and he impotent and aged an{d} {unable} to gett a livelyhood or subsistence in any laborious way {or} any mainetaineance to subsist on.
Hee humbly prayes yo[u]r wor[shi]pps That yow wou{ld be pleased} to take into yo[u]r Charitable Considerac[i]on his want {and ?sad} Condic[i]on and would please accordinge to ye Act for {illegible} Maimed souldiers to Order him what Annuall S{illegible} shall thinke fitt for the Support of his Age and {illegible}
And he shall every pray &c.
