The petition of John Lee of Wotton, Surrey, May 1660

To the Right Hono[ura]ble S[i]r Edward Nicholas Secretary of State to his most sacred Ma[jes]tie.

The humble petic[i]on of John Lee of Wootton in Surrey.

Humbly sheweth.

That yo[u]r pet[itione]r hath allwaies been loyall and faithfull to his Ma[jes]ty and his Royall father of glorious memory and had a brother Thomas Lee who was a sworne servant to his Ma[jes]tie and of his guard (who out of his good affecc[i]on and duty to his Ma[jes]tie lost his limbs in his service and was after mainteyned by yo[u]r pet[itione]r till time of his death to yo[u]r pet[itione]rs great charge and hath much impaired his Condic[i]on.

Yo[u]r pet[itione]r therefore most humbly praies yo[u]r Hono[u]r to bee pleased to conferr on him a Messengers place in ordinary of his Ma[jes]t[y’]s Chamber or to the Councell.

And yo[u]r pet[itione]r shall ever pray &c.
