The petition of John Kerchinge, Henry Ireton’s Regiment, August 1648

<His Musters already {c}ertified w[i]th the rest {of} that Troope vnder the hands of Mr Ashwell and Mr Burchenshall by Order from the right Hon[oura]ble the Comittee; And yt Certificate is now in the Trea[surer’]s hands.>

The Humble {peti}tion of John Kerchinge A poore wounded souldyer in {the} Sauoy Hospittall.
Sheweth
That your poore {pe}titi{on}er hath served the Parlaimentt these sixe yeares Formerly vnder the Lord Gray of Gruby about two yeares & after [illegible] notting Notingham Regiment vnder Col[one]l Thornton nighe a yare & sence vnder Commissary Generall Ierton his owne Troopp above three yeares all w[hi]ch time hee hath faithfully performmed his duty as a siouldyer vpon all occasions but now [illegible] hath receiued a dangerous wound at the first seting down before Coulchester.
Wheras your petitioner hath for his service arreare mony due to him hee nev{er} yet receiuing any in all the foresayd servicces & now hee is in a poore wounded disconsolatte condition helpless of himselfe.
His Humble suitt to {t}his Honerable Committee is that you will Commisseratt his estatte & of your Clemencie to such obiects of pitty, to grant an order for the muster roulles to bee searched for w[ha]tt is due for the foresayd service belonging to this Armie, wherby hee may haue a warrantt from your honers for the receiuing of his arreares to support him in this the miserablest misery that did ever yet befall him.
& as bound hee shall pray

This Souldier John Kerchinge is vnder Ceure in the Sauoy Hospitall of his woundes being shott in the Foote, wherby he is a maymed man
