The petition of John Kendall of Leeds, West Riding of Yorkshire, July 1673

To the Right Wor[shi]ppfull S[i]r William Lowther and to the rest of this wors[hip]full Bench
The humble Petic[i]on of John Kendall of Leeds
Most humbly sheweth
That yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner was a Troper in the late Kings Armie of blessed memory, from the beginninge of the warrs beeing taken prisoner in Cheshyre was greuiously wounded and deteyned there for the space of Five mounthes who after his releasement entred into the s[ai]d seruice againe and continued for the terme of Fower yeares and a halfe and neuer as yett revolted from the same, now beeing fallen into want, beeing not able to endure laboure by reason of his wounds He therefore prayes and beseeches this wor[shi]pfull Bench to take his poore Condic[i]on into yo[u]r serious considerac[i]on and to lett him have such releife as you in yo[u]r Judg[e]ment shall thinke meete and fitting for his faythfull seruices
And yo[u]r poore Petic[i]oner as in duty shall ever praye.
