To the Worshippfull his Ma[jes]ti[e]s Justices of the peace and quor[um] att the Generall quarter Sessions of ye peace houlden at Manchest[e]r the Eighteenth day of January Anno D[o]m[ini] 1671
The humble petic[i]on of John Kay of Banklane in the p[ar]ish of Bury within ye County of Lancast[e]r yeoman And Richard Haworth, Joseph Kay and Robert Kay & Rich[ard] Booth of Bury
Sheweth
That whereas yo[u]r poore petic[i]oners haueinge beene a loyall subiects and hath spent a great p[ar]te of theire Estates in o[u]r late Ma[jes]ties service and now is are in great want Although yo[u]r worshipps haueinge here to fore alawed [sic.] yo[u]r Petic[i]oners Ten shillings a yeare a peece yet by reason of yo[u]r peitic[i]oners poverty and the greatnes of thire Charges they is are forsed to make thire adres to this Honorable Bench desireinge yo[u]r worshipps to take into yo[u]r serious Considerac[i]on the necesity of yo[u]r Petic[i]oners And to make theire Alowences some thinge more yearely as y[o]w in yo[u]r discresion shall think fitt.
And yo[u]r petic[i]oners as bound in duty will ever pray for yo[u]r worshipps happines
