The petition of John Hunter, Derbyshire, c. 1650

To the right Wor[shi]pp[fu]ll the Justices now for this Sessions the humble Peticon of John Hunter a wounded souldier vnder the Com[m]and of Captayne Harstaffe sheweth
That wheras hee was wounded in the knee in the late warres, and hath layne vnder the Chyrurgeons hands hands [sic] ever since for Cure, to his greate damage and impouerishment: and yet is alltogether lame of the sayd wounded legge as may too playnly appeare,
These be most humbly & ernestly to beseech your good wor[shi]ps in pitty to Consider the pr[e]misses and to grant to him your poore petitioner such a pension an[n]ually for his mayntenance as to you shall seeme fit & your petitioner as by dewty bound will ever pray &c
Hee was vnder my hand for Cure of the said Wound allmost ii yeares
p[er] me George Blagrave.
