The petition of John Humphrey of Ruthin, Denbighshire, c. 1677

To the Right wor[shipfu]ll the kings Ma[jes]tyes Justices of The peace at this Generall seissions.
The humble pettic[i]on of John Humphrey of Ruthyn slater
Humbly sheweth.
That whereas y[ou]r pettic[i]oner hath beene a souldier in his late Ma[jest]yes service of blessed memory in the Regim[en]t of Collonel Jarrard & vnder the Comand of Captaine Wyndebanke & leiftenant Euble Lloyd where he receaued seu[er]all wounds & bruses & very dangerously burned w[i]th pouder to the hazard of his life where he Continued seu[er]all yeares in [illegible] seu[er]all Battells & was true & Faithfull all alonge as some of his fellow souldiers yt now receaues pension out of this Countye Can Justifie, And now being Aged, poore & almost blind & feeling the smart of his old wounds & bruses not able to follow his trade to procure his liueing is forced to Begg ye charitable Benevolence
May it therefore please y[ou]r wor[shi]pps to p[er]mitt him to be one of y[ou]r pensioners towards his releefe in his now sadd & deplorable Condic[i]on.
And y[ou]r pettic[i]oner will euer pray &c.
