The petition of John Humphrey of Ruthin, Denbighshire, 15 January 1678

To the Right wor[shipfu]ll the kings ma[jes]tyes Justices of the peace att this Generall Seissions to be houlden for this Countye of Denbigh.
The humble pettic[i]on of John Humphrey of Ruthyn slater.
Humbly sheweth.
That wheras y[ou]r pettic[i]oner hath beene a Souldier in his late ma[jes]tys service of blessed memory in the Regim[en]t of Collonell Jerrard and vnder the Comand of Captaine Wyndebanke and Lieftenant Euble Lloyd and hath beene in seu[er]all Battells and receaued seu[er]all wounds in his body and Continued seu[er]all yeares in the service true & Faithfull to the hazard of life & fortune as some of my fellow souldiers that now are pensioners can Justifie, being sixtye yeares of Age & very poore and blinde w[i]thall & not able to yearne my liueing desire for god sake to be Admitted a pensioner haueing had a promise this 3 q[ua]rter seissions agone & [illegible] my petticon Filed then.
And y[ou]r pettic[i]oner will Euer pray &c.
The 15 day of january 1677
The Court of Quarter sessions Doth thinke fit and soe order that ye peticoner bee payd five shillings Quarterly by ye Treasurer of ye maimed souldiers for ye tyme being
