The humble petition of John Hoyle of Widworthy
<Humbly> Sheweth vnto yo[u]r wor[shi]pps for diuers years together that yo[u]r poor petitioner was in the seruise of our Late Sou[e]raigne Lord king Charles the first of Blessed memory vnder the Command of Captine John Prideax; and after that vnder the Command of Captine Tarrant And after that vnder the Command of on Captine Snelling; vnder whose Seruise yo[u]r poor petitioner rec[eive]d diu[e]rs wounds in the siege of Lime By Reason whereof yo[u]r poor petitioner eu[e]r since & still does remaine in his Lims Decrepped man And in noe way able to get his Liuelyhood or maintainance for himselfe his wife & two Children & for A Long time together yo[u]r poor peti[itione]r hath Laine vnder the hands of Will[iam] Michell Curiurgion for ye helpe & remedy of his wounds at his own p[ro]p[er] Cost & Charges insomuch that yo[u]r poor petitioner is brought to Extreame want & necessity & is Like to suffer much more vnlesse yo[u]r wor[shi]pps favor & Benevolence Bee Shewed towards him in this his sad & most deplorable Condic[i]on
May it therefor please yo[u]r good worships to Commiserate the sadd Condic[i]on of yo[u]r poor petitioner & graunt him some reliefe in this his most sadd & deplorable Condic[i]on; And yo[u]r Poore Petitioner as duty binds him dayly pray &c.
wee whose names Ar herevnto subsribed beliue & testify that the cause of John Hoyle As aboue is Expressed is true And wee recommend him as A p[er]son fitt to bee reliued
