The petition of John Hoskinson, Cheshire, Easter 1663

To the R[igh]t Wor[shi]p[fu]ll his Ma[jes]t[y’]s Justices of the Peace now sitting at the Gen[era]ll Quarter Sessions [illegible] holden in the Castle of Chester for the County Pallatine of Chester.
The humble petic[i]on of John Hoskinson
Sheweth
That yo[u]r pet[itione]r from the beginning to the ending of the late rebellion constantly demeaned himselfe as a loyall subiect to his now Ma[jes]tie & his late royall father (of ever blessed memory) and never revolted or deserted their service, being oftentimes imprisoned & plundered for his Loyalty.
That yo[u]r pet[itione]r being Marshall in the late Army com[m]aunded by the R[igh]t hon[oura]ble the L[or]d Dellamere was by order of the then Com[m]ission[e]rs to secure some prisoners and Armes vpon w[hi]ch accompt he disburst 4 li. 5 s. 00 d. & being a poore man hath not hitherto receaued any satisfacc[i]on.
He therefore humbly prayeth yo[u]r Wor[shi]ps serious considerac[i]on of the pr[e]misses, & yt yow wil be pleased to graunt an order whereby yo[u]r pet[itione]r may be repaid the said sume of 4 li. 15 s. And the rather in regard yo[u]r pet[itione]r is a very poore man & a loyall subiect.
