The petition of John Hiccocke, City and County of Chester, 11 October 1652

To the Hon[oura]ble the Justices of the Peace att the Sessions att Northwich:
The humble petic[i]on of John Hiccocke
Sheweth.
That yo[u]r pet[itioner] beinge a Souldier in the Parliam[en]ts service in the was wounded and maimed in the s[ai]d Parliam[en]t service, whereby hee is disabled from gettinge his liveliehood by his Trade, as by the w[i]thin written Certificate may appeare.
Y[ou]r Petic[i]oner therefore humblie prayeth That by the Order of this Bench, hee may bee admitted a pensioner, & receave yearely such penc[i]on as to y[ou]r wisedomes shall seeme meete
And y[ou]r Pet[itione]r shall eu[er] praye &c

These are to certifie that John Hiccock souldire in Colonell Duckenfields regiment being com[m]anded out of Chester under ye com[m]and of Capt[ain] Smith was wounded at Leigh in Lancashire by an ingagement against the Scotts his arme being almost cut off in the elbow joint, whereby he is wholly disabled to follow his former trade or procure any way a maintenance for himselfe
