The petition of John Gattclift of Rolleston, Staffordshire, September 1652

To the Right Worship[fu]ll the Justices of Peace for the County of Stafford
The humble petic[i]on of John Gattclift of Rowlston in the County of Stafford
<Sheweth>
that yo[u]r petic[i]oner haveing bin a soulder for and allwaies faithfull in the Parliaments service being in the Regiment of Coll[onel] Scroope was sorely wounded & maymed in the saide service at St Neots in the County of Cambridgeshire Huntington & having lost {the} use o{f} his right arme thereby soe that he is disabled to worke for his maintenance.
The pr[e]misses being Considered he humbly prayeth that yo[u]r Worshipes would be pleased to take his Condic[i]on into yo[u]r Considerations and to grant him a pention for his subsistance as you vsually doe in the like Cases & your poore petic[i]oner as in duty bound shall ever pray for yo[u]r Worships.
