The petition of John Fricker of Biddestone, Wiltshire, Trinity 1663

To the worshipfull the Kings Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace sitting at the quarter Sessions holden at Warminster for the County of Wilts[hire] Anno Do[mi]ni 1662
The humble petition of John Fricker of Bidstone St Nicholas in the County afores[ai]d
Shewing that your petitioner haueing beene for many yeares a souldier in his late ma[jes]ties Seruice of blessed memory vnder the Command of Captin Henry Thinne in the Regiment of Colonel Robert Thomas Howard Knight Esq[ui]r[e] as alsoe in the Regiment of Colonell James Long Esq[ui]r[e] and receiued many hurtes and wounds, viz: in the head, hands, thigh, and Ribbs, whereby he is disabled for worke, and much impoverished by suffering vnder the late vsurped powers, as that he is destitute of any competent subsistence or liuelyhood haueing a wife & three small Children and continued faithfull to his sayd ma[jes]ties seruice, not deserting the same by takeing vp Armes against his sayd late ma[jes]tie of blessed memory or his ma[jes]tie that now is. And was in readines to be in service for his ma[jes]tie that now is, at the riseing at Lansdowne, at the time when Sir George Boothe Raised Armes for his Ma[jes]ties seruice. Wherefore yo[u]r petitioner humbly pr{a}ys that you would Assigne him an yearly pension towards his subsistence & liuelyhood
And yo[u]r poore petition[e]r shall humbly pray &c
Wee whose names are herevnto subscribed doe Certifie all whome it may concerne that the petitioner abouesayd, to the best of our knowledge or information, never deserted his late ma[jes]ties seruice of blessed memory, or his ma[jes]ties seruice that now is, dureing the late tymes of Rebellion and vsurpation, but is truly loyall & Indigent wherfore wee doe hereby recommend him as a p[er]son fitt to receiue an yearely Pension towards his Competent subsistence & liuelyhood
