The petition of John Fletcher of Sevenoaks, Kent, 1661

To the Right Wor[shi]pful the Justices of his Ma[jes]ties peace for the County of Kent.
The humble Petition of John Fletcher.
Sheweth
That y[ou]r humble Pet[itio]n[e]r was born in Kent, & hath been allwaies true & faithful to ye Royal Interest, particularly in his service at Colchester where under ye Command of Collonel John Till, he was so dangerously wounded, yt his bowle & gutts was taken out of his belly, and his body in other parts greivously hurt
That through his then tedious Imprisonm[en]t & other sufferings, he is disabled without y[ou]r releif and succour, to maintein himself his wife & three small children, w[hi]ch must otherwise fal to ye care & charg of ye Parish of Sevenokes he now liveth in; in regard his body is unable for work by these sad accidents.
He humbly praies yt in respect of his services & sufferings you would commiserate his sad condicion, & supply his urgent necessities with al convenient care & speed, by w[ha]t waies & meanes y[ou]r Wor[shi]pps in y[ou]r wisedomes shal think most fitting & expedient.
And as in duty bound he shal ever pray &c.
A Certificate under their hands yt know him to be a sufferer and an honest man & faithful to his Ma[jes]ties Interest as is above alledged.
