The petition of John Eyre of Winterslow, Wiltshire, Hilary 1666

To the right wor[ship]ful the Justices of ye Peace of ye County of Wilts[hire] now sitting at the generall Sessions holden at New Saru[m]

The humble petic[i]on of John Eyre of Winterslow souldier vnder S[i]r George Vaughan in ye late wars and Army of King Charles ye first of euer blessed memory

<Humbly sheweth> vnto y[ou]r Wor[shi]ps yt whereas y[ou]r Petitioner did engage & serue in ye late wars from ye tyme S[i]r George Vaughan first tooke vp Armes to ye very end of ye warre; and being now old and not able to worke for a liuelihood; your Petitioner therefore humbly craueth your Wor[shi]ps would be gratiously pleasd to com[m]iserate his pr[e]sent low condic[i]on; and for some supply in his old Age would grant vnto hym by y[ou]r Wor[shi]ps Order a small Pension yearly for his subsistence; And y[ou]r Petitioner shall euer pray for ye happy prosperity of his Ma[jes]tie; and for y[ou]r wor[shi]ps health & peace
