The petition of John Entwistle of Bolton, Lancashire, Epiphany 1675

The petic[i]on of John Entwisle of Little Bolton labourer
Humbly sheweth
That hee yo[u]r petic[i]oner preferred a petic[i]on to yo[u]r wor[shi]pps the last Sessions for a further allowance to himselfe and fiue others to witt Robert Bradshaw Alexander Bradshaw James Cockerill Elizabeth Bradley widdow and Ann Bradshaw widdow all of Bolton which foure [illegible] men and the husbands of the said widdows serued the late kinge of blessed memory and the King that now is in the late warrs and therein receiued such wounds [illegible] and maimes as haue made them vnable to Sustaine themselues without reliefe from yo[u]r wor[shi]pps their allowance is but tenn shillings a yeare which is but a poore reward for their great seruice which they p[er]formed for many years together whereas others receiue thirty or fourty shillings yearly that haue done no more then yo[u]r poore petic[i]oners
Yo[u]r worshipps att the last Sessions gaue Order to John Entwisle here pr[e]sent that hee should come to this Sessions and yo[u]r wor[shi]pps would returne him an answer to his last petic[i]on which is here recited
May it therefor please yo[u]r wor[shi]pps to Consider the pr[e]misses and graunt yo[u]r order for a further Supply towards the Manteynance of yo[u]r petic[i]oners
And they as in duty bound shall euer pray &c
