The petition of John Doyt, Sussex, 17 to 18 January 1656

To the Worshipfull the justices of the peace for the County of Sussex, at this Session assembled.
The humble petition of John Doyt.
Sheweth, that your petitioner beeinge formerly a souldier in the regiment, and Company of Col[one]ll Morely, did at the siege of Basinge house receive severall wounds, much to the prejudice of my labour, as will appeare uppon search by any chyrurgeon, as also that your petitioner hath ever since adhered to the Commonwealth, and til of late served in the Army.
May it therefore please you, the premises considered, to allow some yearely maintenance, or otherwise to releeve me, as in your wisdomes you shall thinke most fit, and your petitioner shal ever pray &c.
3 li. to be allowed yearely out of monys raised for maymed soldiers & 30 s. to be paid him presently:
