To the right hon[oura]ble Edward Lord Montague, knight of the most noble Order of the Garter, and one of his Ma[jes]t[y’]s most hon[oura]ble Privie Councell,

The humble petic[i]on of John Doves of Dover in ye County of Kent

Most humbly sheweth

That Whereas yo[u]r pet[itione]r for his continued & constant Loyalty to his late Ma[jes]ty of glorious memory and to the now Kings Ma[jes]ty hath been imprisoned Sequestred and in his Service lost one of his armes Whereby yo[u]r pet[itione]r is almost ruinated and vndone

In tender considerac[i]on of the pr[e]misses yo[u]r peticon[e]r most humbly beseecheth your honno[u]r to graunt vnto him To be Masters mate Pylate Boatswaine or Gunner of one his Ma[jes]t[y’]s Friggots vnder yo[u]r Lor[dshi]pp, as yo[u]r Honno[u]r shall thinke fitt.

And yo[u]r pet[itione]r shall pray &c.
