The petition of John Dallom of Hitchin, Hertfordshire, 11 April 1659

To the right honerable and right worshippfull the Justices of the Peace for the County of Hertf[ordshire] at Generall quarter Sessions of the publique peace there holden the Eleauenth day of Aprill 1659

The humble pitic[i]on of John Dallom otherwise Joyner of a poor Inhabitant of Hitchin

Humblie sheweth unto this honerable Bench that yo[u]r said pitic[i]oner hath Longe since beene in seruice for the Parliam[en]t and Com[m]on Wealth of England in the Late warres ben for that he that was imprest for the seruice aforesaid out of the said towne of Hitchin (by reason of which said seruice) yo[u]r said poore pitic[i]oner was much decayed in the state of his body and is now becombe utterly became unable to Labo[u]r for a Liuelyhood whereupon hee is inforced to Craue the weekly Contribuc[i]on of the inhabitants of Hitchin aforesaid  [three illegible words] and also the benevolence of diu[e]rs private and well disposed people in the said towne.

Wherefore the premises Considered yo[u]r said poore pitic[i]oner humbely desireth this honourable bench that they may be pleased to graunt an order unto Frauncis Kinge Esq[ui]r[e] one of the now Treasurers for this County for the ent[e]ringe of yo[u]r said pitic[i]oner into his booke in to be a penc[i]oner in the roome and place of of the Last deceased penc[i]oner which was in his role.

And yo[u]r said pitic[i]oner shall euer pray &c.

The truth of which premisses may be certified by diu[e]rs of of the Inhabitants of Hitchin aforesaid but noe others now pr[e]sent it is testified by us.
