The petition of John Crue of Holt, Denbighshire, 14 March 1666

To the right wo[rshi]pp[fu]ll the kings Ma[jesty]s Justices of peace for the countie of Denbigh.
The humble petic[i]on of John Crue of Holt in ye said countie beinge a poore and aged p[er]son, and a maimed souldier in his late ma[jesty]s service,
Humbly sheweinge that your petic[i]oner is and ever was a true and faithfull subiect vnto his now ma[jes]tie and to the late Kinge Charles of blessed memory, and was a souldier in Holt Castle and ells were, vnder ye right wo[rshi]pp[fu]ll Sir Richard Lloyd k[nigh]t, and Cor[one]ll Robinson, and there received seu[er]all hurts and wounds in severall places, and lost his goods, and now is and indigent and maymed souldier.
And whereas one Edward Savadge an other indigent souldier, had pension by yo[u]r Wo[rshi]pps allowaunce of 40 s. p[er] ann[um] out of the countie of Denbigh (and is now lately dead)
Yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner therefore humbly desireth your Wo[rshi]pps to conciferate [sic] his sad condic[i]on and to allowe him the sayd pension of 40 s. p[er] ann[um] dureing his liefe, in the place of ye s[ai]d Edward Savadge, & yo[u]r petic[i]oner will (ever pray &c.)
<The suggestion of the petition as to his seruice in Holt Castle his infirmities and povertie is true to my knoweledge.>

It is therefore ord[er]ed this 14 March 1666 that the s[ai]d John Crue be admitted pentioner in ye place of ye s[ai]d Edward Sauadge to haue that 40 s. yearly.
