The petition of John Cross, royalist soldier, July 1660

To the Kings most excellent Majestie,

The humble petition of John Cross Gent[leman].

Sheweth,

That, Your Petitioner hath ever continued loyal, active and faithfull in Your late Royal Father’s service, and also in Your Majesties service in Scotland, wherein he received many wounds, and suffered much imprisonment, and was ingaged for Your Majesties service, in the late endeavours of S[i]r George Booth.

Your Petitioner therefore most humbly prayeth, Your most excellent Majestie be graciously pleased, to grant him the place of a Land-Waiter in Your Majesties Customes London, or a Yeoman of Your Majesties Chamber.

And, Your Petitioner, as in duty bound, shall daily pray for Your Majesties long and happie Reigne.
