John Coalby was a Souldiger under these men Following

Feirst under the Earle of New Castle att Hull Seige and att Leeds seige & att Bridge in Linkolnshaire a sargant under Magor Wiltshire under S[i]r Thomas Gleman Gouerner of Yorke three years a sargant I went for the Toune of East Haslerton one Symon A[n]drew hyrd mee and one Tho[mas] Woodall And one Anthoney Toppinge and one Robert Beriman And one Marmaduke Danby and the promissed that if was wounded or main’ed [sic.] that I should bee mantained by the towne now I the s[ai]d John Coalby was wounded at Yorke Feight in his ma[jest]ys saruis under the Comand of Lord Langdall and I was soe wounded at Yorke Fight that I was neuer Able to worke for my Liueing since soe hopeing that some good [illegible] people will bee stow something of mee and I shall Eu[e]r pray for you; soe I am yo[u]rs
