The petition of John Cliffe of Little Budworth, Cheshire, Trinity 1655

To the right wor[shi]p[ful] the Justices &c
The humble petic[i]on of John Cliffe of Little Budworth
Sheweth
That yo[u]r petic[i]on[er] haueing ever beene a faithfull souldier for the service of the Com[m]on wealth & behaued himselfe Civilly towards all persons free from the scandall plunderinge or pillageinge & now being fallen into great want & misery being very Laime & impotent by reason of [illegible] his weaknesse, soe as hee is not of abillity to helpe himselfe, & soe likely to perish for want vnlesse speedy Course bee taken for his releife, as well for meat, drink, & Cloathinge, as alsoe for lodginge
May it therefore please this hon[ou]r[a]ble Bench the pr[e]misses tenderly considered to gr[an]t vnto yo[u]r poore & distressed petic[i]on[e]r some Compitent releife forth of the Treasury of this County whereby hee may subsist w[i]thout beieg begginge or being burthensome to any perticuler persons
