The petition of John Burgis of Trowbridge, Wiltshire, 15 July 1646

To the wor[shipfu]ll his Ma[jes]t[y]s Justices of the peace for this Countie of Wiltes[hire] assembled at Warminster the 15 July 1646:
The humble petic[i]on of John Burgis in the p[ar]ish of Trowbridge in the said County of Wiltes[shire]
Sheweth vnto you[r] wor[shi]ps that yo[u]r petic[i]oner being a long tyme a souldier in Chafeild house & being sent out vppon a partie for John Gefford Cunstable of Horwells downe for some fault that he had comitted, was at Chafeild house tyed neck & heeles, & ever since envyed yo[u]r petic[i]oner & therefore hath bound yo[u]r petic[i]oner ouer to this sessions for a burthen of [?bows] which was fownd vppon his mothers ground w[hi]ch he [illegible] never knewe of to great disgrace of yo[u]r petic[i]oner
Yo[u]r petic[i]oner therefore humbly desireth yo[u]r wor[shi]ps to take it into considerac[i]on whereby yo[u]r petic[i]oner may bee released & hee shal bee bound to pray for yo[u]r wor[shi]ps long life and happines.
